What is your primary role in the Digital Tattoo Project?
I’m a student assistant for the Digital Tattoo team. My primary job is to write posts, edit pages, and share content on social media.
When did you start working with the Digital Tattoo Team?
I started working on the Digital Tattoo project in the winter of 2017.
How did you get involved in Digital Tattoo?
I got involved in the Digital Tattoo project after being hired for a position at the University of Toronto’s Inforum. My first project was editing quiz links, and creating the questions for the staff bios.
Why do you believe Digital Tattoo is an important initiative?
Digital Tattoo is important to me because it gives reliable information, and space for discussion, about the issues faced by digital citizens. I appreciate Digital Tattoo’s commitment to presenting well-researched, and current information about internet behaviour. Beyond being an important repository and information source, Digital Tattoo also invites collaboration and discussion between academics, contributors, and readers. By creating a space for meaningful dialogue about digital identities, surveillance, and the dissemination of digital information, Digital Tattoo creates a form of community between readers and contributors. This level of collaboration and participation drew me to the project, and continues to be my favourite aspect of our work.
What do you hope that readers will get out of Digital Tattoo?
I hope that readers of Digital Tattoo will engage critically with the site, and with their online presences. The skills I have learnt from working on the Digital Tattoo project have helped me perform better in online spaces personally, academically, and professionally. I hope that they can be of help to others too!
Do you have any pets?
Yes! My family has a 4 year old golden retriever. He is a big ball of fluff and love, and his favourite food is sweet potato. My sister’s loves Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, so he’s named after the incomparable Mr. Darcy.
What’s something people might not know about you?
My undergraduate degree is in English and Drama, with specializations in medieval theatre. Once, while studying in England, I had to play the physical manifestation of the sin ‘sloth’ at a renaissance fair!
Who would you bring with you to a desert island?
If I were to end up on a desert island, I would bring my little sister. She’s in the middle of her first year of University and could use a vacation.
